Save the rainforest and yourself
Since i decided to retire from the many temptations and manipulations
of modern life in the western world, and moved to a organic fruit-farm
on the foothills of the mountains in costa ricas atlantic-zone, i rea-
lised what is wrong with our modern life.
Many times we feel unhappy with our existence, not able to pinpoint the
cause of our unbalanced state of beeing. we dont realise that all the
outside influences of daily life take us further and further away from
our natural state of being. All the patchwork of sensless entertainment
and media-exposier, all the attacks on our subconscious by advertising
and livestyle-gurus, leave us in total confusion.
What am i? What is left of me? Often nothing but a creature of consum-
addiction, no more. How can we cope with all the artificial created needs,
dictated by society? We will never be able to buy all the products on the
market offert to us, and if we could, it would bring no lasting relief
anyway.
So i decided to brake with the modern life routine and make a radical
change.I decided to live in the forest, go back where our forefathers
came from. Was there a quality in living the way nature has given us
for millions of years, whe have foregotten? Can modern man adapt the a
life stripped to the bare essencials? These questions run to my mind
for long, before i made the final move. The beginning was not easy,
everything was foreign to me, nothing was the way i was used to.
Every moment of my life became a challenge, even bathing became an
adventure, because it was done in a river between age old trees.
Months went by, and after a while i decided to visit town to buy some
soap and other nesessitys. In the morning driving down the dirtroad
i was excited and happy to be soon under people again. but i was not
expecting my reaction, ones i entered the busy streets of town. The
noise and the movement of people became soon unbearable for me. Was
this the life i lived before, all these years? I could not believe it.
Now i know the cause of my confusion and frustration with a clearity
and certainty like never before. After i gathered all the goods and tools
i needed in the forest, i left as fast as i came, back to my little
remote paradise in the jungle. After i arrived i sat down on the porch
of my simple jungle-hut, and looked around, what a beautifull perfect
place the rainforest is, everthing has his place and function, no
questions ask, all is done as it has to be.
How could it be otherwise?I started to feel sorry for all the confused,
uncertain people out in the artificial world of civilisation. At this time
i felt the urge to share my experience with people who felt like me,
looking for a change of life and a real brake from the ratrace. People
who are an the brink of giving there inner nature a chance to unfold,
and to feel the first time who they really are. I became convinced of
the need to give my part to "SAVE THE RAINFOREST AND YOURSELF".
Bringing people and the forest together for the mutual benefit of both,
man and rainforest.
If the idea to spent some meditative relaxing time in the rainforest
appeals to you, feel free to contact me for individual arrangements.
I look forward to hear from you.
With love to you and all of creation, your living Buddha Volko
